Episode 22: Episode 23

It's been a full month since the last episode of 'Beyond the Grind'.  What happened?  Listen and find out!  Oh - also Baraslan and Shaddoe cover topics such as Stephen Reid's recent comments on role players, the differences between MMO role playing and PnP role playing,  role playing likes and dislikes of the freshly launched MMO, great role-playing locations that are a bit off the beaten path, and the timely passing of Star Wars Galaxies.

  1. Great show as always, thanks. missed you over Dec.

  2. Thanks! Positive feedback is *always* appreciated!

  3. I was really surprised to hear my question to Stephen Reid read in the podcast. Embarrassing, yet cool.

I think you guys raised some really good points, especially on the definition of roleplaying and how game designers may think of the word differently. Campaign roleplayers are very different creatures from those who think more in terms of a player-written narrative.

Anyways, keep up the great podcast!

  4. On your discussion on the Flashpoint RP. Myself and a bunch of friends did the lower level Flashpoint Republic side and we RPed through the entire thing, which it was actually very very fun and we used it as a way for our characters to meet ICly so we could create our current guild.

  5. @Gidean: Yeah - I’ve used the Esseles as an excellent *IC* scene to introduce two characters, since it’s very easy to say that the two of you happened to be on the same ship traveling to Courscant. Usually I have to ignore the bits of the Bioware story that don’t fit - but in this case, we were able to use everything. It was a lot of fun and a great time doing it and we now have an established ‘first contact’ between our characters that we have begun to build the rest of our IC relationship on.
